This last week I have done a trip to Komatipoort with a couple of guests from Pretoria - Mark and Ray.
Neither Mark nor Ray have targeted bass before and although primarily flyfishermen they were game just to get on the water.
Weather condtions have not been too good of late with heavy rainfall within the area - this has proved problematic as many of the dams in the surrounding area have become stained with the muddy waters.
Both Ray and MArk brought their own tackle but quickly came to realise that they would prefer to make use of mine as they were somewhat undergunned...
Weather was appauling and with a belting wind we had a very tough first day on the water managing to boat a few dinks - we covered much water looking for better size fish but alas we did not find them or the pattern they were looking for. We picked up some fish around the 1kg mark but nothing great shakes for these guys it was bettering personal bests with just about every fish.

It's a real privledge to be out on the water with a couple of great guys.













Day two dawned with wind thumping but we decided to brave it and hit the water for the first 3 hours ofr so we pretty much hit a blank but finally I was able to crack the code and over the next 2 hours we boated 37 fish lost a whole lot and got a couple of fish over 3kgs and landed a few fish over 3kgs. Amazing how the fish can just go off on a particular pattern. I lost my own PB late afternoon I would guess close to the 5kg mark sadly with the big fish went my favorite bass slaying lure....
