Upper Zambezi winter lure fishing 2010
This is one of those trips of a lifetime...... Fishing on this section of the river under the right condtions can really really cook and is not for the feint hearted as being river fishh all these things pull super hard and fast. Just picture catching huge bass on 3 lb line - this is what catching some of these bigger bream species feels like light line.

Komatipoort
Fish Species; Florida Large mouth Bass, Small mouth bass, Mozambique Tilapia (Blue Kurper), Redbreasted Tilapia, Tigerfish, Yellow fish and a whole host of other species.
This region is well known for it's bass and tigerfish but there are really good waters for spinning and flyfishing for other species currently. Tigers are in the region of up to about 6kgs but this is very dependant on the colour of the water and the rains. Large mouth bass - fish in excess of 6kgs have been caught and due to the wide variety of prey species available in the area this helps with them attaing this size and mass.

" Bloemhof Catfish"
This is the ideal time of the year to target large catfish at Bloemhof dam in the Northwest Provice of South Africa Basically from now until early May are the peak times the barbel are aggressive and will readily take lures if presented correctly.
The way to target Catfish in Bloemhof is to tackle them using a calling rod and using the right techniques can bring many PB's to the net. These are powerful fish that can at times be highly aggresive and I use a technique called "Calling" for them This teqnique requires a specialised rod and heavy line to fufill the task of hooking and landing big cats.
A minimum of 4 days is required (Weather can be an issue sometimes at Bloemhof as it can be very windy at times).

Jozini Tigerfish and Bass
Have you ever wanted to catch Tigerfish but the Zambezi has always been to expensive or it has just been to much PT to organise a trip?
After the summer rains the Jozini tiger are starting to come on again and will be shortly starting to smacking the shoals of baby fish that abound after the spawn in the lake. There are also numerous other species that are thriving at this time of the year.
